Is AI biased and can you trust what it tells you?

Yes, AI can be biased. It absorbs biases from the data it learned from — if the data is unfair or incomplete, the AI will be too. You should never trust AI advice alone, especially about legal, medical, or financial decisions.

AI systems learn from data — and that data often reflects real-world inequality, discrimination, and unfairness. An AI trained mostly on images of white people will be worse at recognizing other faces. An AI trained on biased news articles will repeat those biases. AI doesn't understand fairness the way humans do. It just finds patterns in training data, even if those patterns are harmful. The solution is to treat AI as a helpful tool, not an authority. Get a second opinion from a real expert, especially for anything serious.
