Phone calls going straight to voicemail without ringing
Your phone is either in Do Not Disturb mode, call forwarding is turned on, or you've blocked the caller. Go to Settings → Do Not Disturb first and make sure it's off. That fixes it. If it's already off, check if call forwarding is active or if the number is blocked.
When a call goes straight to voicemail without ringing, something is stopping the phone from alerting you. Do Not Disturb mode, call forwarding to voicemail, or a blocked number are the common ones. Sometimes it's a network issue on the carrier's side. We'll check the common causes first and then look at your phone's settings.
- ✓Check if Do Not Disturb is turned on. Look at the top of your screen for a moon icon or check Settings → Do Not Disturb
- ✓Check if airplane mode is on. Look for an airplane icon in the top status bar
- ✓Ask the person who called you whether your voicemail greeting plays immediately or if their call rings first
- ✓Check whether this happens with all callers or just one person

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Checking whether Do Not Disturb is on but forgetting to actually turn it off
- Thinking the problem is your phone when it is call forwarding on your carrier's side
- Not restarting the phone after changing settings. The change needs a restart to take effect
Signs you need professional help
- You've checked Do Not Disturb, call forwarding, and airplane mode. All are off. But calls still go to voicemail, or the problem happens with everyone and restarting hasn't fixed it.
