USB tethering not working on your Android phone
USB tethering needs three things: a data cable (not a charging-only cable), tethering enabled on your phone, and the computer recognizing your phone. Try a different USB cable first. That fixes most problems. If that doesn't work, turn on USB tethering in Settings.
USB tethering lets your computer use your phone's mobile data through a cable. When it stops working, it's the cable, tethering being disabled, or the computer not recognizing the phone. A different cable and a quick toggle in Settings fixes most problems.
- ✓Have a USB data cable available (charging-only cables won't work)
- ✓Make sure your phone has mobile data turned on and working
- ✓Make sure the phone has cell signal right now
- ✓Keep the phone and computer close together for best connection
