Phone running really slow after a software update
Your phone is busy in the background finishing the update and reorganizing its files. This is normal for the first 24 hours after an update. But if it is still slow after a day, restart your phone first and then clear the cache. That fixes it.
When Android updates, it reorganizes files in the background and re-optimizes how it runs. During this time, your phone naturally feels slower because it is working hard behind the scenes. It settles down after a few hours or overnight. If it does not, a restart clears out temporary junk that got left behind, and clearing the cache removes old data that is slowing things down.
- ✓Have at least 20% battery remaining before restarting
- ✓Know how long the update has been installed so you can track timing
- ✓Close any important apps and save your work before restarting
Fix-IT-Bot will walk you through each step, just tap, no typing needed.
Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Clearing data instead of just cache. Clearing data signs you out of apps and loses your saved information. Always tap Clear cache only
- Waiting only a few hours before trying to fix it. Give your phone at least 24 hours to finish its background work
- Trying to uninstall the update. You cannot, and going backwards causes more problems
