How to control privacy on your Android phone

Android has privacy controls built into Settings. You can control which apps can access your location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos, calendar, and more. Go to Settings → Privacy or Settings → Apps → Permissions to manage what each app is allowed to do.

Android apps request permission to access your personal data — location, camera, microphone, contacts, messages, and more. You can grant or deny these permissions. We'll walk you through reviewing app permissions and turning off access you don't need. This protects your privacy and stops apps from collecting data you don't want to share.
