Phone speaker sounds muffled or crackly
A blocked speaker grille is the most common cause. Dust or lint builds up and muffles the sound. Check the bottom and top of your phone for visible debris and clean it gently with a dry cloth or soft brush. That fixes it.
Muffled or crackly sound comes from dust blocking the speaker hole, water damage, or damaged speaker hardware. Your phone has two speakers (top and bottom). If one is blocked, that side will sound broken. Cleaning takes 30 seconds and fixes it. If cleaning doesn't help, the speaker hardware itself can be damaged.
