Your receipt printer is jammed or paper isn't feeding
Power off the printer now and remove any torn or jammed paper inside. Check that new paper is installed straight and flat. Reload with fresh thermal paper and power the printer back on.
Paper jams happen when paper is loaded wrong, the paper feed rollers are dirty or worn, or something is blocking the path. The good news is that most jams you can clear in just a few minutes with no special tools. You just need to be gentle so you don't damage the printer.
- ✓Have fresh thermal receipt paper ready to reload once the jam is cleared
- ✓Make sure you have a clean, lint-free cloth and optionally isopropyl alcohol on hand for cleaning
- ✓Have time to work without interruption — clearing a jam carefully takes 10-20 minutes

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Forcing jammed paper out while the printer is still on. Turn it off first
- Not checking that paper is centered in the guides. It will feed crooked
- Loading paper backwards or upside down so the thermal coating doesn't face the print head
- Not waiting for the printer to reset after clearing a jam
Signs you need professional help
- If jammed paper is cleared but the printer still refuses to feed or jams immediately, if the thermal print head appears cracked or damaged, if the paper feed roller is visibly worn smooth or glazed after cleaning, or if paper guide rails are bent or visibly damaged.
