Microsoft Teams status stuck on Away even when you're working
Teams sets you to Away automatically after about 5 minutes of no mouse or keyboard activity. To stay Available, move your mouse or press a key occasionally. If the status is actually stuck, restart the Teams app. Close it completely and reopen it.
Teams automatically marks you as Away when it doesn't sense any keyboard or mouse activity for a few minutes. This is to show colleagues you're not at your desk. If you're working but not moving the mouse. Like during a long call or reading. Teams thinks you're idle. The fix is either moving occasionally, changing Teams settings, or restarting the app if it gets stuck.

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Thinking Teams is broken when it's working correctly. Away is the right status if there's no mouse or keyboard activity, even if you're at your desk
- Closing just the Teams window instead of fully quitting the app. The background process keeps running, so restart doesn't work
- Leaving Teams running in the background on an old monitor or disconnected device. That can show you as Away at your main desk
