Card reader won't connect to POS system

Card readers don't connect because they're turned off, the cable is loose, the POS software needs restarting, or the driver is missing. Check power and cable first, then restart everything.

Without a working card reader, you can't process payments. The issue is simple: reader is off, cable is loose, POS lost the connection and needs restarting, or a driver update broke it. Most fixes take 5-10 minutes.
