Office printer pulling two sheets at once and jamming
Paper double-feed happens when the rubber feed rollers are dirty and can't grip just one sheet. Turn off the printer completely and wait 30 seconds, then open the paper tray and clean the gray rubber rollers inside with a dry cloth. If paper is stuck inside, open the jam access door and remove it.
Inside your printer are rubber rollers that grab one sheet of paper and feed it through. When they get dusty or dirty, they lose grip and grab two sheets. Sometimes this causes jams. Cleaning the rollers fixes the problem.
- ✓Have a dry, lint-free cloth ready to clean the rubber feed rollers
- ✓Have a fresh ream of printer paper ready (20 lb or 75 gsm standard weight)
- ✓Have a test document ready to print to verify the fix

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Leaving the paper tray full to the very top. Overstuffing causes feeding problems
- Using old paper that's been sitting out and absorbed humidity. Fresh paper solves half the problem
- Not cleaning the feed rollers regularly. Maintenance prevents jams before they start
Signs you need professional help
- If you've cleaned the rollers and tried fresh paper but it still double-feeds, or the jam access door is stuck, get in touch and we'll send a technician to check the feed mechanism.
