Console is overheating and shutting down
Your console is overheating because it is not getting enough airflow. Immediately turn it off and let it cool down for 30 minutes. Make sure the console has at least 10 centimetres of space on all sides with nothing blocking the vents.
Consoles overheat when vents are blocked, the room is too warm, or dust is clogging the internal fans. Stop playing immediately and let it cool down completely. Once cooled, move the console to a well-ventilated area away from other electronics. If overheating continues, the console's internal fans or thermal paste need cleaning. This should be done by a professional.
- ✓Have the console in a well-ventilated area away from other electronics
- ✓Make sure you have at least 30 minutes available while it cools down
- ✓Keep the console powered off during the cooling period
- ✓Have a way to test the console afterwards, like a game installed

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Continuing to play when the console is hot. This causes internal damage
- Not realizing the console needs 10 centimetres of space on all sides
- Putting the console in an enclosed space to hide it. This traps heat
- Not dusting the vents regularly. Dust buildup is a major cause of overheating
Signs you need professional help
- The console still overheats even with proper ventilation, you are getting repeated overheating warnings, the console will not turn back on after cooling, or you suspect the internal fans need cleaning.
