What is a hardware security key and how does it protect your accounts?

A hardware security key is a small device that proves you're really you when logging in. It looks like a small USB stick or flash drive. Instead of typing a code from your phone, you plug it in or tap it. It's faster and stronger because hackers can't steal it remotely.

A hardware security key is the strongest way to protect accounts from hacking. Instead of a password and a code from an app, you physically plug in a key. The login happens only if the key is actually there. Hackers can steal passwords and hack apps, but they can't steal a key that stays with you. The downside is if you lose the key, you're locked out until you prove your identity another way.
