What is the difference between HDD, SSD, and NVMe storage?

HDD is the slow, cheap option for backup storage. SSD is fast and affordable for everyday computers. NVMe is the fastest modern option.

Three types of storage exist: HDD (mechanical hard drives with spinning platters), SSD (solid-state drives using SATA interface), and NVMe (solid-state drives using the faster PCIe interface). HDD is cheapest per gigabyte but slowest. SSD is faster and reliable. NVMe is the fastest and what modern computers use.
