No sound coming from your Mac speakers or headphones

Sound requires two things: the volume must be turned up and the correct output device must be selected. Check that your volume is raised and that speakers or headphones are selected as the output device.

No sound comes from muted volume or from selecting the wrong output device. Check if your Mac is muted, if volume is at zero, or if headphones are selected when you want speakers to play. These are quick fixes.
