Time Machine backup is stuck or will not complete

A stuck backup happens because the backup drive is disconnected, full, or having trouble communicating with your Mac. Check the backup drive connection and try stopping and restarting the backup.

When Time Machine gets stuck, it means the backup cannot connect to your drive, the drive is full, or files are locked. We'll check the backup drive connection, free up space if needed, and restart the backup process.
