Internet works on WiFi but not through a network cable
One port on your router is broken. Try plugging the cable into a different port on the back of the router. If that works, the first port failed.
Your WiFi works because it uses a different part of the router than the network ports, so a broken port won't affect WiFi. If one or all of the wired ports stop working, it's either a failed port, a faulty cable, or the router needs restarting. You'll fix this in minutes by trying different ports and cables.
- ✓Make sure the cable is fully plugged in on both ends. Push it in firmly until it clicks
- ✓Look at the port lights. If there's no light at all, the port is probably dead
- ✓Try plugging the cable into a different port on the router. Pick one you've never used before
- ✓Use a different device to determine whether that port is broken or just your computer. This tells you if the port or your computer is the problem

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Giving up on the first port without trying others. Routers have 4 or more ports, and one broken port doesn't mean they're all broken
- Not checking if the cable is fully seated. 'plugging it in' and 'plugging it in firmly until it clicks' are different things
- Thinking the cable just works because it's already connected. Cables break and get damaged without showing it
Signs you need professional help
- You've tried all ports and none of them work with any cable. The router hardware is probably damaged The port lights are on but the computer still shows no internet after restarting. The computer likely has a network driver issue The connection works but the speed is extremely slow compared to WiFi
