Your WiFi drops when the microwave or baby monitor is on

Microwave ovens and baby monitors emit 2.4GHz signals that jam WiFi on the same frequency. Switch to 5GHz WiFi (it has no interference), or move your router away from the kitchen.

The 2.4GHz WiFi band shares spectrum with microwave ovens, baby monitors, cordless phones, and Bluetooth devices. These appliances aren't designed for RF shielding, so they leak strong signals that jam WiFi on the same frequency. This is physics, not a router problem.

⚡ Before you start
  • Note that WiFi drops only during microwave use and reconnects after. This confirms RF interference
  • Try using 5GHz WiFi during microwave operation. If stable, 2.4GHz interference is confirmed
  • Check that microwave is several feet away from your router. Moving it helps
