Your device keeps connecting to the wrong mesh node

Your device is 'stuck' to a node and won't let go even when a closer one is stronger. The quickest fix is to forget the WiFi network on your device, then reconnect to it. This makes your device choose the best available node.

When you have multiple mesh nodes with the same name, your device should automatically switch to the closest one with the best signal. Sometimes your device holds onto a weak connection instead of switching. Other times all the nodes have different names and your device picks the wrong one. Forgetting the WiFi and reconnecting fixes most cases.

⚡ Before you start
  • Check which node your device is connected to. Open Settings and look for the WiFi network name
  • Check the signal strength. If it's weak, you're likely on the wrong node
  • Know that all your mesh nodes have the same WiFi name so roaming can work
