Too many devices connected and your router is slowing down

Your router is struggling because too many devices are connected and using bandwidth at once. Disconnect devices you're not using right now. Gaming consoles, old laptops, smart home gadgets, second phones.

Every device connected to your router shares the same internet connection like guests at a dinner table sharing one water pitcher. When many people are drinking at once, everyone gets less. Disconnecting idle devices frees up bandwidth for the ones in use. If you have too many devices always connected, you need QoS or a better router.

⚡ Before you start
  • Have access to your router's admin settings to see how many devices are actually connected
  • Note which devices you actively use and which ones sit idle in the background
  • Have your router login details ready or be able to find them on the sticker on the back
  • Keep speedtest.net available on one device so you can run a speed test immediately after changes
