You forgot your router admin password and can't get into settings
Your router can be reset to factory settings by holding the reset button on the back for 10-15 seconds. After that, you'll use the default password that came with your router. This will erase any custom settings you saved, but it's the quickest way back in.
Every router has a reset button on the back that wipes it back to factory settings with the default password. Once reset, you'll use the password printed on the router's label. 'admin' or 'password'. After you get back in, write down your new password somewhere safe so this doesn't happen again. Just remember that resetting also erases any custom WiFi names, passwords, or other settings you've changed.
- ✓Look at the sticker on the bottom or back of your router. It shows the default admin username and password
- ✓Try logging in with 'admin' as the username and 'admin' or 'password' as the password
- ✓Check your router's manual or the manufacturer's website for default login details

- Pressing the reset button for only 2-3 seconds. It needs to be held for at least 10-15 seconds
- Plugging the router back in immediately after reset without waiting. It needs 2-3 minutes to fully reboot
- Not checking the sticker on the router for the default password before trying to reset
- Forgetting to write down the new password you create. This leads to the same problem later
