UPnP not working and games can't connect properly
UPnP lets games talk to your router without you manually opening ports. If it's not working, first turn UPnP off and back on. That fixes it.
UPnP is a feature that lets your game automatically ask the router to open the connections it needs. If the game still can't connect, the router isn't responding to those requests. Either UPnP needs to be restarted, your firewall is blocking it, or the game needs special permission to use the network. Restarting UPnP solves the problem.
- ✓Check that UPnP is turned on in your router settings. Log in and look for UPnP or Universal Plug and Play
- ✓Restart the router completely. Unplug it for 10 seconds and plug it back in
- ✓Check Windows Firewall or your antivirus to make sure the game isn't blocked

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Turning UPnP on but not restarting the router. The change doesn't take effect until you restart
- Assuming UPnP is on when it's actually off. Check the router settings to check
- Not checking the firewall. Windows has blocked the game and you didn't realize it
- Blaming the internet when the real problem is the router 10 feet away
Signs you need professional help
- UPnP is on and firewall allows the game but it still shows NAT errors. Game connects briefly then drops out within a few minutes. All online games have connection problems, not just one.
