WiFi disconnects or gets very slow at certain times of day

Your router likely has a scheduled on/off setting, or something else is interfering with your signal at that time. Check your router settings for any timers, and move your router to see if interference changes the problem.

This problem happens because of one of three things: a timer in the router that turns it off automatically, interference from other WiFi networks at night, or a device using up all the bandwidth. We'll check your router settings and your WiFi environment to find which one it is.

  • Record the exact time when WiFi drops for at least three days — note if it's always the same time
  • Determine whether the problem happens on 2.4GHz, 5GHz, or both networks
  • Observe whether other people's WiFi networks appear in your available list at that time of day
