5GHz WiFi network not showing up in available networks
The 5GHz band is turned off or hidden in your router settings. Enabling it or unhiding it in the router menu brings it back to your device's WiFi list — this takes 2–3 minutes.
Dual-band routers broadcast two WiFi networks at once: 2.4GHz (longer range, slower) and 5GHz (shorter range, faster). When 5GHz isn't showing, it's either disabled in the router settings or set to broadcast hidden. We'll check the router's WiFi settings and turn it back on or unhide it.
- ✓Have your router's admin login information (IP address or admin username) — this is often on a sticker on the router
- ✓Use a computer or phone connected to the router (either on 2.4GHz WiFi or plugged in with ethernet) so you can access the router settings
- ✓Make sure your router power is on and has been running for at least 2 minutes

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Enabling 5GHz but forgetting to unhide the network — the band is on but devices still can't see it
- Not waiting 30 seconds for changes to apply — restarting the router immediately before settings take effect
Signs you need professional help
- If you've enabled the 5GHz band and unhidden the network and it still doesn't appear after restarting, the 5GHz radio hardware may be faulty. Give us a call and we'll check your router.
