Factory reset a smart home device
A factory reset erases all your settings and returns your device to its original state. The method depends on your device type. You press a button for 10-15 seconds, or do a power-off sequence, or use the app. Remove your device from your app first so the app knows it's gone.
Factory resetting clears everything: WiFi passwords, hub pairing, automations, all settings. You'll need to set up your device again from scratch. This is needed when moving to a new hub, changing ecosystems, or preparing a device for someone else.
- ✓Have your smart device's original app installed on your phone
- ✓Know what type of device you're resetting (Zigbee bulb, WiFi plug, Ring camera, etc.)
- ✓Keep your smart device powered on until the reset is complete
