Philips Hue bulbs not connecting or setting up
Hue bulbs use Zigbee wireless and need to be within about 10 meters of the bridge or another Hue bulb. Make sure the bulb is powered on (screwed in with the light switch on), move it closer to the bridge, and try the search again.
Philips Hue bulbs communicate with the Hue Bridge using Zigbee, a wireless protocol that works over short distances. The bridge is the square device connected to your router with an Ethernet cable. Bulbs must be paired to the bridge before they can be controlled. New bulbs should pair automatically during search.
- ✓Have the Hue Bridge powered on and connected to the internet
- ✓Have the Philips Hue app installed on your phone
- ✓Position the new bulb within about 10 meters (30 feet) of the bridge
