Smart home hub not discovering new devices
The hub and new device have to be close enough to see each other. If they're too far apart or the hub doesn't have a clear path to your device, they won't connect. Move the new device within 6 feet of the hub, put both in pairing mode, and let them find each other. After they connect, you can move your device to its final spot.
Your smart home hub needs to be within range and line of sight with a new device to discover and pair it. Walls, distance, and interference from other devices can block the signal. The fix is to bring them close together in the same room, put both in pairing or discovery mode, and wait for them to connect. Once paired, the hub will stay connected to your device from further away.
- ✓Have your hub powered on and connected to the internet
- ✓Have your new device unpacked and powered on
- ✓Bring the new device to the same room as your hub before starting pairing

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Starting the discovery process on the hub but forgetting to put your device into pairing mode. The hub is looking but your device isn't broadcasting
- Keeping your device too far away during pairing and then wondering why the hub can't see it. Distance matters during discovery
- Assuming a failed discovery means your device is broken when it just needs to be closer to the hub
- Checking pairing mode once and assuming your device stayed in that mode. Some devices time out after 5 minutes
Signs you need professional help
