Smart lock battery draining much faster than expected
Smart locks drain faster when the lock is used a lot, when the WiFi signal is weak, or when it's cold outside. Start by checking the battery percentage in the app and seeing how many times a day the door is being unlocked. If it's high use, fast battery drain is normal. Just swap in fresh batteries.
Smart locks use power every time you unlock them, check the door, or send a command. Weak WiFi signal makes the lock work harder and drain faster. Cold weather also drains batteries quicker. If you're unlocking the door 20 times a day, the batteries won't last as long as they would with just 5 unlocks.
- ✓Have your smart lock powered on before starting

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Assuming a fault when the drain is just from high usage. Check how many times the door is unlocked per day
- Not checking WiFi signal strength. Weak WiFi can double the drain rate
- Using old or mismatched batteries. Always use fresh alkaline batteries of the correct type
- Not cleaning battery contacts. Corrosion creates resistance and forces the lock to work harder
Signs you need professional help
- If battery drains from full to empty in less than 2 weeks with low usage and good WiFi, or if the lock is slow to respond or makes grinding noises, the lock likely has a hardware fault. Contact the manufacturer or get in touch and we'll sort it out.
