Smart plug energy monitoring shows wrong readings

Smart plug power readings are wrong because the plug's sensor is faulty or hasn't been calibrated. The plug itself is working fine. It just can't measure power accurately. Restart the plug and check if the numbers improve.

Smart plugs have tiny sensors inside that measure power usage. Sometimes those sensors break, give incorrect readings, or get out of sync with the plug. A restart fixes temporary glitches. If the numbers stay wrong after restarting, the sensor is faulty and the plug should be replaced.

⚡ Before you start
  • Check if the reading is stuck on one number or keeps changing. Stuck readings mean a sensor fault
  • Unplug your computer and see if the power reading drops to zero. If it doesn't, the sensor is broken
  • Look at the plug's history in the app. If it shows the same value every hour, the sensor isn't working
