Alexa not finding your smart devices during setup
Smart devices need to be on the same WiFi network as Alexa, in pairing mode, and close enough to be found. Check three things: your device is in pairing mode (such as a flashing light or button press), it's on the same 2.4GHz WiFi network as your Echo (not 5GHz), and your router isn't blocking it. If all three are true and Alexa still isn't finding it, restart your device and try again.
Alexa finds devices by searching your WiFi network. If a device isn't in pairing mode, on the wrong WiFi band, or too far away, Alexa won't find it. Most smart home devices need 2.4GHz WiFi, not 5GHz. Your router can also be blocking new devices from joining.
- ✓Check if your device is in pairing mode. Look for a flashing light, button to press, or instruction in the manual
- ✓Check if your WiFi is broadcasting on 2.4GHz as well as 5GHz. Most smart devices need 2.4GHz, not 5GHz
- ✓Check if your device is close enough to the Echo to be found. Move it within 10 feet of the Echo during setup

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Assuming your device doesn't work when it just isn't in pairing mode. The light tells you when pairing mode is active
- Trying to pair on 5GHz WiFi and giving up. Smart devices need 2.4GHz, not 5GHz
- Not waiting long enough after powering on your device. Give it 10-15 seconds to enter pairing mode
Signs you need professional help
- If you've put your device in pairing mode, it's on 2.4GHz, and Alexa still isn't finding it after multiple tries, your device was working before but suddenly Alexa isn't finding it again, or multiple devices from the same brand won't pair.
