Browser using too much memory and slowing down your computer

Browsers use memory for each open tab, and too many tabs make everything slow. The quickest fix is to close the tabs you're not using. If you have 15+ tabs open, close down to 5 or 6 and you'll notice an immediate difference.

Every browser tab uses memory. Think of it like running applications on your computer. When you have too many tabs open at once, they add up and use so much memory that your computer runs out of room to do anything else. The quickest fix is to close tabs you don't need. If you're the kind of person who keeps 50 tabs open, your computer just doesn't have enough memory for that. You'll need to be more selective or add more RAM to your computer.

⚡ Before you start
  • Count how many tabs are open in your browser right now. More than 15 and memory use is the problem
  • Close the browser completely and reopen it with just 1 tab. Is your computer faster?
  • Open Task Manager (Windows: Ctrl+Shift+Esc, Mac: Command+Space then type Activity Monitor) and look for the browser memory percentage

Fix-IT-Bot will walk you through each step, just tap, no typing needed.
