Windows Update stuck or failing to install

Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter. If that doesn't work, clear the SoftwareDistribution folder to force a clean re-download. Make sure you have at least 10GB of free disk space.

Windows Update fails from corrupted cache files, insufficient disk space, update service errors, or conflicting software. Fix by running the Troubleshooter, freeing disk space, clearing the cache folder, or temporarily disabling antivirus.
