TV picture looks too dark when watching HDR content
HDR needs specific settings turned on to display properly. The brightness is controlled by HDMI Enhanced mode. Turn this on first in your Picture settings. If the picture is still dark, increase the brightness slider in the same menu.
HDR content requires your TV to process a special signal. When this signal processor is off or brightness is set too low, the picture goes dark. The most common fix is turning on HDMI Enhanced mode. After that, adjust the brightness slider if you need more light.
- ✓Make sure the content you're watching is actually HDR (most streaming apps show an HDR label if available)
- ✓Check that you're using an HDMI cable (not other connections) to watch HDR content
- ✓Have your TV remote handy

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Turning up brightness all the way and washing out the picture. Stop when shadows show detail but still look dark.
- Changing settings in the wrong menu. Picture settings control HDR, not General or System settings.
- Assuming the TV is broken when it just needs HDMI Enhanced mode turned on.
Signs you need professional help
- You've turned on HDMI Enhanced mode, raised brightness, and turned off Dynamic Contrast but the picture is still unwatchably dark.
