A dead pixel is a broken part of the screen that can't be fixed by software. It's a hardware problem. Stuck pixels (bright coloured dots) sometimes go away on their own after a few hours, but dead pixels (black dots) are permanent. If it's brand new and under warranty, you can have the screen replaced.
