What is Dolby Atmos and do you need it for your TV?

Dolby Atmos is sound technology that adds height to your audio. It makes movies feel like the sound is coming from above and around you, not just from the front. It's nice to have if you want a premium cinema experience at home, but not necessary for everyday TV.

Dolby Atmos creates a three-dimensional sound experience by using extra speakers that point upward or toward the ceiling. When you watch a movie with Dolby Atmos, you hear audio coming from all around you and from above, which makes action scenes and special effects feel much more immersive. However, it only works if your TV, your speakers, and the content you're watching all support it. If your TV or speakers don't have Dolby Atmos, no amount of changing settings will enable it.
