Fire TV remote won't work or pair with your Fire Stick
Remote batteries are the culprit. Replace them with fresh batteries first. If that doesn't work, restart your Fire Stick by unplugging it for 10 seconds, then hold the Home button on the remote for 10 seconds to re-pair it.
Fire TV Stick remotes connect wirelessly via Bluetooth and need fresh batteries to work. Dead batteries are the most common reason a remote stops responding. Even if batteries look fine, they lose power over time. If new batteries don't fix it, unplugging the Fire Stick and re-pairing the remote will sort it out.
- ✓Have two fresh AA or AAA batteries ready — check the battery type on the back of your remote
- ✓Make sure your Fire Stick is plugged in and the power cable is firmly connected
- ✓Keep the remote pointed at the Fire Stick — Bluetooth works best with a direct line of sight
Fix-IT-Bot will walk you through each step, just tap, no typing needed.

- Using old batteries from a drawer without checking if they still work
- Holding the Home button for only a few seconds instead of a full 10 seconds
- Not waiting long enough after restarting the Fire Stick — it needs a full minute to boot
Signs you need professional help
- You've replaced the batteries, restarted the Fire Stick, and held the Home button for 10 seconds, but the remote still won't pair.
