Roku won't connect to WiFi or keeps disconnecting
Restart both your Roku and WiFi router, then check that you're using the correct WiFi network name and password. Most older Roku devices only work with 2.4GHz WiFi, not 5GHz — check what band your network is using.
Roku connection problems come from weak WiFi signals, wrong passwords, hidden network names, or the Roku trying to connect to a WiFi frequency it doesn't support. Restarting both devices fixes most cases. If your network uses 5GHz and your Roku only supports 2.4GHz, you'll need to change your router settings or upgrade the TV.
- ✓Know your WiFi network name exactly (it appears on the Roku's list of available networks)
- ✓Know your WiFi password — have it ready before you start
- ✓Check what WiFi bands your router broadcasts (2.4GHz, 5GHz, or both)

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Not restarting both the Roku and router — restarting just one doesn't fix the problem.
- Entering the password incorrectly — remember that UPPERCASE and lowercase letters are different.
- Assuming the Roku is broken when it really doesn't support the 5GHz band your router is using.
- Leaving the Roku far away from the router and expecting a strong signal.
Signs you need professional help
- If your Roku connects successfully to your phone's hotspot but won't connect to your home WiFi, your router can need professional help or a factory reset. If the Roku won't connect to any network including a phone hotspot, the Roku's WiFi hardware can be broken.
