Dialogue is too quiet but music and sound effects are too loud
This is a sound mixing issue that's fixable with TV audio settings. Look for a setting called Speech Lift, Dialogue Enhancer, Dialogue Lift, or Clear Voice. Turn this on. If your TV has a setting called Audio Description, turn that Off.
Movie and show sound is deliberately mixed with loud action and music to make scenes exciting, which makes dialogue harder to hear. Your TV has a setting to boost dialogue levels above everything else. Turning on Dialogue Enhancer or similar feature brings voices up while keeping action at the right level. If that setting is already on, turning off Audio Description helps.
- ✓Have a show or movie ready to test with that has both dialogue and music
- ✓Know your TV brand so you can find the right menu
- ✓Keep your remote handy for navigating settings

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Turning up the TV volume all the way instead of using Dialogue Enhancer. This just makes everything louder, not clearer.
- Thinking the show or movie is poorly mixed when it's just your TV settings. Most content is mixed the same way.
Signs you need professional help
- You've turned on Dialogue Enhancer and changed sound modes but dialogue is still too quiet. The problem started suddenly after you didn't change any settings. Get in touch to check your TV's audio.
