No sound coming through HDMI from your laptop or console

HDMI carries both picture and sound, but the TV doesn't send the sound automatically. Go to your TV settings and change the audio output to HDMI. On your laptop, also check that HDMI is set as the audio device.

HDMI cables carry both picture and sound in one cable. When you plug your laptop or console into the TV with HDMI, the picture comes through instantly, but the sound doesn't because the TV and your device aren't on the same audio setting. The TV thinks you want speakers, or your device thinks you want to hear it on the laptop. Changing both to HDMI fixes it.
