Smart TV update failed and won't try again
this is just a temporary glitch. A full power cycle triggers the TV to try the update again. Unplug the TV completely for 2 minutes, plug it back in, and check Settings for the update. If the update starts this time, don't interrupt it.
TV updates can fail for simple reasons. A loose internet connection, power interruption, or just a software hiccup. Once an update fails, your TV doesn't automatically try again because it thinks it already did and something went wrong. A full power cycle clears this out and makes the TV realize it needs to try again. If that doesn't work, forcing a manual check for updates tells your TV to look for the update again.
- ✓Check that your internet connection is strong and stable
- ✓Check that the TV has at least 2GB of free storage space (go to Settings → Storage or Device Storage)
- ✓Check whether you interrupted the update or the TV lost power during the update

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Only unplugging the TV for a few seconds instead of 2 minutes. The full 2 minutes is important
- Interrupting the update while it's installing because it seems to be taking too long. Let it run until the TV restarts on its own
- Trying to update over WiFi when the connection is weak. Plug in an Ethernet cable if your TV has one
Signs you need professional help
- If you've tried the full power cycle and manually checked for updates but the update still won't start, or if you see an error code and the update keeps failing at the same point, get in touch with the error code and TV model and we'll check if it's a known issue.
