Smartwatch blood oxygen reading seems inaccurate or not measuring

Blood oxygen sensors are very picky about fit and contact. Make sure your watch is snug on your wrist with the sensor flat against your skin, not loose. Clean the sensor lens with a soft cloth and restart the watch. If it still does not work, the sensor likely has dirt or damage inside — try cleaning more thoroughly or get the watch serviced.

Smartwatch blood oxygen sensors need perfect contact with your skin to read accurately. A loose band, dirt on the lens, or skin that is too dry or hairy throws off the reading. We will check the fit, clean the sensor, and restart the watch to get accurate readings again.

⚡ Before you start
  • Have the watch on your wrist — wear it snugly during troubleshooting
  • Keep a soft, lint-free cloth ready to clean the sensor lens
  • Know your normal resting heart rate so you can compare it to the blood oxygen readings you get
  • Be able to sit still for 15–30 seconds when testing the sensor
