Microsoft Edge keeps opening instead of Chrome
Windows is set to use Edge as your default browser. Change it back to Chrome by going to Settings → Apps → Default apps and selecting Chrome as your default browser. This takes 30 seconds.
Your computer has a default browser setting that controls which browser opens when you click a link. Windows can reset this to Edge, or an app changed it without asking. We will go to your settings and set Chrome as the default again.

Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Looking for the setting in the wrong menu. It is specifically under Apps → Default apps, not elsewhere.
- Changing the setting but not testing it right away. Try clicking a web link to confirm the change worked.
- Not realizing that the setting applies only to web links. Chrome shortcuts may still open Chrome directly.
Signs you need professional help
- If Chrome is not in the list of available browsers even though it is installed, or if the setting keeps changing back to Edge no matter how many times you set it to Chrome, give us a call. Something may be overriding your settings.
