Windows screen flickering after a recent update

A Windows update likely installed a graphics driver that doesn't work with your monitor. This is fixable. The quickest solution is to roll back the driver to the version before the update, or update it again to get a fixed version. Both work.

Screen flickering after a Windows update always means the graphics driver got updated and the new version doesn't play well with your monitor. You can roll back to the old driver, update to a newer driver, or change the refresh rate. We'll try each one.

⚡ Before you start
  • Check if the flicker happens only in Windows or also during startup and BIOS screens
  • Check the refresh rate in Display settings. If it changed to a lower number, that's likely the problem.
  • Check if you can see what graphics card or chip you have in Device Manager
