Audio crackles, pops, or has static noise

Crackling audio is almost always caused by outdated audio drivers, poor quality audio settings, or high CPU load. Updating drivers fixes it for most people in under five minutes.

Audio crackling usually comes from one of three sources: outdated or corrupted audio drivers, CPU usage so high that Windows can't process audio smoothly, or audio quality settings that are too high for your hardware. We'll update your drivers, adjust the audio settings, and check what's using up your CPU.
