Your microphone works in Windows but no sound comes out

Your microphone is either muted, the input level is turned all the way down, or it's set as a disabled device. Check the microphone mute button first, then check Sound settings to make sure it's selected as the input device and the level is turned up.

A microphone that Windows finds but doesn't work is muted or disabled in Sound settings. We'll check the physical mute button, make sure Windows is using it as the input device, and turn up the input level.
