Windows Update stuck, frozen, or won't install

A stuck Windows Update is usually caused by update cache corruption, poor internet connection, or a conflict with another process. Restarting the Update service and clearing the cache fixes it for most people.

Windows Update sometimes gets stuck if the update cache is corrupted, your internet connection drops during download, or a Windows service crashes. We'll restart the Update service, clear the cache, and try the update again.
