WiFi feels slower after a power outage or storm

After a power outage, equipment restarts in a scrambled state. A deliberate full power cycle done in the right order fixes most post-storm WiFi problems in ten minutes.

When power goes out, all your equipment shuts down at once. When power comes back, everything restarts at the same time but in a mixed-up order. The router starts before the modem is fully online, cables can have come loose, and the system gets confused. A deliberate power cycle done in the correct sequence fixes this.

Risk: Medium ⏱ 10-20 minutes Beginner
⚡ Before you start
  • Unplug both modem and router completely from the wall. Don't just use the power button
  • Have a timer ready or use your phone to count two full minutes
  • Keep surge protectors nearby if you have them — you'll need to plug equipment into them after the power cycle

Fix-IT-Bot will walk you through each step, just tap, no typing needed.
