WiFi adapter missing from Device Manager

The WiFi adapter is probably disabled in BIOS or Device Manager, or the driver is missing. First, restart your computer completely. Sometimes this is all it takes. If that doesn't work, check Device Manager to see if the adapter is listed as disabled or unknown.

Your WiFi adapter is a small piece of hardware that picks up WiFi signals. If it's not showing in Device Manager, Windows can't see it at all. This means no WiFi. This happens when your computer got disabled by accident, the driver goes missing, or the adapter isn't getting power. A full restart fixes it sometimes, but if the adapter is disabled or unknown, you'll need to enable it or reinstall the driver.
