WiFi option completely disappeared from the taskbar
The WiFi option disappeared because the wireless driver got disabled in Windows or the driver is broken. Turn it back on in Device Manager. It takes 30 seconds and fixes most cases.
Your WiFi driver - the software that runs your wireless card - has been turned off or isn't showing up correctly. This hides the WiFi icon from your taskbar and disconnects you from all wireless networks. Turning it back on in Device Manager puts everything back to normal.
- ✓Check if there's a physical WiFi switch or keyboard shortcut (Fn key) that turns WiFi on and off
- ✓Check if Settings shows WiFi as available or if it says disabled
- ✓Check if Device Manager shows any yellow warning marks next to network devices
Fix-IT-Bot will walk you through each step, just tap, no typing needed.
Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Not checking for a physical WiFi switch before assuming the driver is broken
- Not restarting the computer after uninstalling the driver. Windows needs the restart to reinstall it
- Deleting the driver software when simply disabling and re-enabling would have worked
Signs you need professional help
- Device Manager shows a yellow exclamation mark next to the WiFi adapter and you can't enable it. The WiFi adapter doesn't show up in Device Manager at all. You've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver but WiFi still won't turn on.
