Your saved passwords disappeared from your browser
Your passwords are stored in your browser account in the cloud. You're either signed out or password sync is turned off. Sign back in and turn on sync, and they'll come back — even if you cleared the browser.
Browser passwords sync through your account (Google for Chrome, Apple ID for Safari, Firefox account for Firefox). If they disappeared, you're either signed out, sync is turned off, or you accidentally cleared them from your device. The good news is they're still in your cloud account — signing back in and turning on sync brings them back.
- ✓Know which browser you use (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge) — password settings are in different places
- ✓Have the email and password for your browser account ready (your Google account for Chrome, Apple ID for Safari, Firefox account for Firefox)
- ✓Have another device signed in to the same browser account if possible — it can show you whether your passwords are still in the cloud
Fix-IT-Bot will walk you through each step, just tap, no typing needed.
Skip, I just want a technicianCommon mistakes to avoid
- Not realising they were signed out of their browser account. The passwords are still in the cloud and come back when you sign in again.
- Clearing browser data with 'Passwords' or 'Saved autofill data' checked. This deletes passwords from your device but not from the cloud.
Signs you need professional help
- If your passwords are gone from both the browser and your cloud account (passwords.google.com for Chrome, Settings → Passwords for Safari), give us a call and we'll help you reset them.
