Mac won't open an app because it's from an unidentified developer

This is macOS protecting you from apps it doesn't recognize. If you trust the app and downloaded it yourself, right-click the app and click Open. This tells macOS you're willing to run it.

macOS blocks apps from unknown developers as a safety feature. It doesn't mean the app is bad, just that Apple hasn't checked it or the developer hasn't paid to be on Apple's approved list. You can open it anyway if you trust the source.
